The toyline also focuses on modular base-forming with the A.I.R. The second installment, Earthrise, takes place during an interstitial period as the Autobots and Decepticons travel through space, seeing many gain Earthly vehicle modes, while also introducing space-faring characters such as the Quintessons and Mercenaries. The first installment of the trilogy, Siege, is set during the final days of the Transformers' civil war on Cybertron, reimagining classic characters to give them Cybertronian alternate modes and battle damage deco.
The War for Cybertron Trilogy toylines aim to serve as a back-to-basics approach to Transformers, with a focus on media-accuracy, articulation, and a consistent robot mode scale (relatively based on the Generation 1 cartoon). For their amusement or ours, that part hasn't been decided yet.Main article: War for Cybertron Trilogy (toyline) Myself and my buddy TheLastRoboKy definitely appreciate this focus on old-fashioned fun, so we're tearing through it and hauling other folks along for the ride. The game is by no means perfect, with plenty of balance issues and a couple annoying bugs, but it's a very solid game that's easy to just play and have a very good time with. The transformation mechanics are smooth, the action is high-impact, the shooting is fun, and the payoffs from blowing up other giant robots are extremely satisfying. The biggest thing that sets War for Cybertron apart from Transformers games that came before it is that it's actually fun to play.
The Autobots would not admit to being ecstatic about this development, but their constant merry drinking says more than enough there. The game itself completely takes place on Cybertron, the homeworld of the Transformers, and features no whiny humans at all. Transformers: War for Cybertron is a third person shooter released in 2010, to help kick off the new Aligned continuity that Hasbro has launched for the Transformers franchise.
